Since 2001, President Bush has been hosting an Iftaar dinner at the White House to celebrate the start of Ramadan. This Presidential recognition of the Muslim holy month while the Muslim world is at war with the United States leaves American citizens feeling confused and disappointed. In addition, news of the Commander in Chief honoring Islam at a state dinner undoubtedly has a demoralizing effect on our troops.
President Bush told his Muslim guests: “Islam is a religion that brings hope and comfort to more than a billion people around the world.”
On the same day (Oct. 16, 2006) that Bush held his traditional Iftaar dinner, in which he spent much of the time praising Muslims, the following acts of violence took place in the name of Islam:
-Afghanistan: Three humanitarian relief workers in Kabul were killed by Taliban bombers.
-Iraq: Twenty people attending a funeral in Baghdad were killed by car bombs.
-Thailand: Five were killed and 79 injured when Muslim terrorists bomb a shopping center in Hat Yai.
-Iraq: Eight civilians were killed by a comb bomb set off by al-qaeda terrorists.
-Indonesia: A Christian priests in Sulawesi was shot to death by Muslim gunmen.
-Iraq: Police discovered 46 bodies, all of the victims had been tortured before being killed.
-Thailand: A husband and wife collecting sap from rubber trees were shot to death by a group of Muslims.
-Iraq: A Christian man is stabbed to death on a Baghdad street by a Muslim, the attack was in retaliation for the recent comments of Pope Benedict.
We were all disgusted and bewildered to watch President Bush stand in a D.C. area mosque and declare Islam to be “a religion of peace,” as the ruins of the World Trade Center were still smoldering. The fact that Bush continues to extol the virtues of Islam, as the Muslim world continues their invasion of Europe, threatens to destroy Israel, and sends terrorist fighters to kill U.S. soldiers in Iraq shows that our president still fails to understand the Muslim threat.
We are now in the midst of a war of civilizations. It is the Islamic world vs. the Judeo-Christian world. It is the seventh century vs. the 20th century. It is all of these things and it is a war which will determine whether the civilized people of the world continue to live in freedom or succumb to Muslim subjugation.
Apparently, the 9/11 attacks on this country in which 3,000 Americans lost their lives at the hands of Muslim thugs was not enough to awaken our president from his politically correct dream world. As our Muslim enemies see our leader offer words of praise for their warrior philosophy, they see a weakened and pitiful giant.
Can you imagine President Franklin Roosevelt inviting members of the American Nazi Party to the White House during World War II?
How many more Americans will have to die before our political leadership understands that we are in a struggle for our survival?
We need a president who will kill our enemy, not honor them!
