On Monday, President Bush will tell the country his plans to stem the tide of illegal aliens. His speech should be received as a victory by those who have worked diligently to sway the mind of our Commander-in-Chief. However, the naysayers are out there pitching their negative thoughts before the president is given a chance to speak.
"President Bush, trying to build momentum for an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws, is considering plans to shore up the Mexican border with National Guard troops paid for by the federal government, according to senior administration officials.
“One defense official said military leaders believe the number of troops required could range from 3,500 to 10,000, depending on the final plan. Another administration official cautioned that the 10,000 figure was too high.
“The officials insisted on anonymity since no decision has been announced.
“The president was expected to reveal his plans in an address Monday at 8 p.m. EDT. It will be the first time he has used the Oval Office for a domestic policy speech - a gesture intended to underscore the importance he places on the divisive immigration issue.” - Associated Press:
Many within the conservative movement of the Republican Party have contentiously acted a bit disingenuous with President Bush.
Mr. Bush has tried, since the first month of his presidency “in 2001, to push an immigration-reform bill through Congress.” The president’s plan included temporary worker permits for immigrants.
It is obvious that the voters got what the president advertised himself to be from the very beginning. We voted him into office twice, knowing what he stood for regarding immigrants and the guest worker program.
The president put the immigration program to rest, only to present it over again. His ideas were consistently rejected by the American public and those who became to be known as America’s newly adored patriots called The Minutemen.
Bush was lambasted by the leader of the group, Mr. Jim Gilchrist, a former Marine and founder of the Minuteman Project. Gilchrist formed and articulated his thoughts about immigration and citizenship regarding those who illegally came to America. He also thought well enough of himself to run for a congressional office on August 18th, 2005. He, with his friend, Chris Simcox, organized The Minuteman Project in early 2005. With his friend named Chris Simcox, they worked together to form a dynamic dual.
They recruited volunteered citizens to join them. With boots on the ground holding binoculars, they gathered themselves at the Arizona border to become a blocking force against illegal entry into the U.S. by non-citizens. They have continued to do a stellar job.
“The response from the President and Congress has been wholly inadequate and is outrageous in its own right. Politics should never come before the security of this nation and her citizens. It is imperative that we secure our borders now, first, before any political squabbling over what is to be done with those millions who have already entered this country by illegal means.” - Chris Simcox President of Minuteman civil Defense Corps.
Gilchrist and Simcox gained national attention when hordes of illegal aliens began marching through our streets, waving Mexican flags, and demanding rights.
However, there are some who believe that those who have spoken on behalf of The Minutemen organization have a lot of chutzpah to try to connect the president with some sort of a conspiracy concerning the Border Patrol.
Mexico’s secretary of foreign relations posted documents on his website that show that the Border Patrol is providing Minutemen information to his office. How is this Bush’s fault?
Open accusations were made about our government giving out information that could endanger those who are part of the Minuteman Project. It is being alleged that the Border Patrol has apprised Mexican authorities of exactly where Minutemen are setting up their surveillance of illegal entries on American soil.
One could ask if this information was not given by someone in the offices of The Minutemen organization. As we all live and breathe we can understand that stranger things have happened. When asked about why our government would do such a thing, he had no answer. We all are left wondering and shaking our heads.
With President Bush addressing the nation about our borders and all the ramifications that we assume he will put forth, we don’t need all this unnecessary negativity. A number of conservative talk show hosts, only looking to improve their ratings, are adding to the uproar and showing a lack of respect for the president. Let’s leave the nasty talk to the likes of Air America Radio.

We have one president of our country. The job of the presidency demands his constant attention. While giving heart felt praise for the Minutemen, let us not forget that Jim Gilchrist and Chris Simcox are not in office.
