The title of this column, “Stupid Is, As Stupid Does.” The movie character Forest Gump is credited for these seminal words of knowledge! As you probably know by now, “O.J. Simpson Has Been Convicted On All Counts Of, Conspiracy, Coercion And Assault With A Deadly Weapon.”
He now sits in a Las Vegas, Nevada jail awaiting sentencing, which will take place on December 5th, 2008. He had better get used to a jail setting, because this will be his living environment for years to come.
This time, there was not the brilliant legal mind of the late Johnny Cochran to run to the rescue of what I believe to be the guy who killed Nicole Simpson-Brown and her friend, Ron Goldman. Simpson was not surrounded by a “Dream Team Of Lawyers In Vegas.” He was represented by lawyers that you are I could not afford, however, they were not on the level of a Cochran or F. Lee Bailey!
Even if he had these great legal minds at his disposal, I believe that O.J. Simpson would have still been found guilty. More on that later!
This guy has got to be the stupidest person on planet earth. I know, there have been some “Jr. Psychologists” who have diagnosed Simpson as being a psychopath. Any clinician with a scintilla of clinical knowledge knows that this moron isn’t a psychopath; A screaming narcissist, yes, but, not a psychopath!
Had Simpson met the criteria for the DSM-IV disorder known as, “Anti-social Personality Disorder,” he would have not only committed numerous crimes in the past, he would have served jail time over and over again. The Anti-social personality disordered person, or psychopath, does not possess a conscious. He ceases being this type of person after he is locked up repeatedly; and “Old Age” makes him realize that, “He Isn’t That Smart After All.”
No, Simpson is not a psychopath!
Today, he is a “Convicted Felon.” It was O.J. Simpson’s narcissism that finally did him in. It was his sense of entitlement; his belief that he could walk on anyone, and at any time, that finally landed him behind bars!
People like Simpson have a tin ear. They can only hear one tune, “Theirs.”
Eventually, they all meet their end, either by human judges, or the “Ultimate Judge.”
It was O.J’s voice on a tape recording that lead to his conviction. He and a bunch of goons broke into a Las Vegas hotel room, and threatened one of the scum bags in the case with guns. According to court records, Simpson was on a mission to retrieve personal memorabilia that he had allegedly hidden from the Goldman family. If you will recall, the family of Ron Goldman won a civil case against Simpson; and the latter was ordered to cough up, “33.5 Million Dollars.”
The Goldman’s haven’t seen “A Dime Of This Huge Award.”
Simpson’s able attorney, Yale Galanter told the jury during closing arguments:
“Every cooperator, every person who had a gun, every person who had an ulterior motive, every person who signed a book deal, every person who got paid money, the police, the district attorney’s office, is only interested in one thing, Mr. Simpson”
While there maybe some truth to this statement from Mr. Galanter, he forgot one thing. It was O.J. Simpson who “Placed His Neck In The Noose.”
It was the incredible arrogance and stupidity of this “Pea-Brained Idiot,” that nailed his ass!
O.J. can’t say, “That All White Jury Had It In For Me.” He can’t say, “A Brother Can’t Get A Fair Trial In America.”
No, he can’t say any of these things!
This time, he can not say “The Institutionalized System Of White Racism Brought Him Down.”
As he sits in a jail cell for what many believe will be for years, he will have ample time to review his life--and think of what a mess he made of his God given talents.
There will be no more golf outings; and ridiculing the Goldmans and the Browns. There will be no more cocaine parties; and having sex with women young enough to be his daughter.
One last thought: I hope that the penal system in Las Vegas keeps a sharp eye on Simpson. I say this because there are a lot of people who wouldn’t think twice about taking his life for a variety of sick reasons.
But, it is like my maternal grandma used to tell me, “You Made Your Bed, Now Go Lie In It.”
